Deborah

Writer

Deborah has been writing professionally for almost two decades. With an eclectic background that includes formal training in music and design & illustration as well as writing, her career has run the gamut from freelance artist and designer to Marketing Specialist for the Elora Music Festival, from Documentation Manager for Symantec Canada to Manager of Documentation, Training & Usability at Triversity Inc.

Deborah studied both English Literature and Language & Professional Writing in the Masters program at the University of Waterloo, where her flexible approach and enthusiasm for writing of every kind led to her becoming the first person to be simultaneously awarded all three graduate prizes for Creative, Academic, and Professional Writing. She left Waterloo mid-thesis to take early acceptance in the PhD program at McMaster University. She is currently on-hiatus from her studies, but plans to finish when she can finally narrow her interests down to a single topic of inquiry! While pursuing graduate studies, Deborah also taught writing and online design at several universities and colleges, where she gained a reputation for combining cute outfits with long words.

Today, Deborah has down-shifted somewhat, and splits her time between writing for a variety of clients and scoping out exciting new playgrounds with her husband and their energetic toddler. She hopes to one day complete her PhD, write a series of children’s books, learn to play the guitar, and finally figure out what this Sudoku thing is all about.
